A: The Similan Islands National Park is open seasonally from 15 Oct to May 15 each year. The park is strictly closed from 16 May to 14 Oct during the monsoon season to allow the marine ecosystem to regenerate and ensure passenger safety against rough sea conditions.

Q: Where does the speedboat tour depart from?
A: Our Similan Island speedboat tours depart from Sarasin Bridge which nearby Phuket.
Most of other depart from Thap Lamu Pier in Khao Lak (Phang Nga province). This is the closest mainland point to the archipelago, but take more time to arrive.
Q: How long is the speedboat ride to the Similan Islands?
A: From Pier to the first stop in the Similan Islands takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on the daily sea conditions and the type of speedboat (or speed catamaran).
Q: Can I wear shoes on the islands?
A: To protect the fragile island ecosystems and fine white sands, standard hard-soled shoes are not allowed on the tour boats or the main beaches. Guests are required to leave their shoes at the pier before boarding. However, soft-soled aqua shoes (water shoes) or marine booties are highly recommended and permitted for walking on the islands and hiking up to the famous Sail Rock Viewpoint.
Q: Can I stay overnight on the Similan Islands?
A: No. To combat overnight tourism and protect the local wildlife (such as nesting sea turtles), the Thai Department of National Parks has banned overnight stays on the islands. All accommodations (tents and bungalows) have been permanently removed. The islands are accessible via day trips only.
